Haynes’ Wall of Courage is a large art installation piece that took over 3 years to create. The work pays tribute to human resilience through the depiction of 81 orphaned Congolese on 80 painted panels. Each panel tells the story of a child that Haynes raises money for to provide sustenance, health care and education. Through exhibiting the Wall of Courage, Haynes has been able to garner enough support to secure sponsorships for the children, build 2 schools and 2 medical clinics, and create a permaculture agriculture project, along with inspiring others to act.
Wall of Courage has exhibited at Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa, Isabel Bader Centre in Kingston; Monroe Community Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Seaside Institute in Seaside, Florida; The Firehall Theatre in the 1000 Islands and twice at Stagecoach Farms for the Groove Yoga Festival in Sydenham, Ontario.
The Thousand Islands Boat Museum is a registered non-profit charitable organization that brings the heritage of the St. Lawrence River, the Thousand Islands, and the magic spirit of the region to life. Donations are welcomed to support the Museum and the initiatives of The Art of Courage.
