1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce Encourages Community Kindness
Gananoque ON- The introduction of COVID-19 to our country and our community has brought unprecedented challenges. The last few months have been extremely hard, and we know that businesses and residents are trying to adapt to these challenges as best they can. The 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce would like to encourage residents to approach with understanding and kindness as we gradually reopen parts of our community.

We also acknowledge that there are different messages on a federal, provincial and municipal level that can cause confusion and lead to uncertainty. The province is encouraging people to support local, as are we with our Support Local campaign. We want to encourage the buying power we have as locals, and to support our economy. However, it is imperative we understand that there are no formal restrictions from travelling regionally, or throughout the country. Many people here in Gananoque, the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, and throughout the province will take the opportunity to travel regionally over the summer.

The Thousand Islands Region has been a world renown destination for tourism, we want to embrace the local “staycation” and support others that come provincially while practicing safe COVID-19 protocols, such as wearing a mask, hand washing and continuing to social distance. Our economy relies on this to get us through the unprecedented times. Our visitors deserve respect. There are no provincial or federal restrictions in place, and we want to welcome them to spend money in our community, keeping the economy going.

We as a community need to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure protection, while still encouraging everyone to support our economy by shopping local.
